I don’t dispute the book’s importance, by Stein’s style drives me gertruce. I led in my childhood and youth the gently bred existence of my class and kind. Having just re-read Ernest Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast recently, it was definitely cool to read Stein’s account of the same time and place.
