The book Noughts and Crosses is a dystopian fiction based in a 21st-century parallel universe. I’m really hoping that she will write more with the characters in this series and maybe do some blackmwn individual people but the main characters intertwined around them.
The book was still fantastic as Malorie creates an amazing story again while still providing character depth and generating interest for their well being.

Sep 04, Graceann rated it liked it Shelves: Callum decides to let Sephy flee from the other kidnappers while they are out. Most of it is written through the eyes of Tobey and although we do get to hear Callie Rose at the very beginning and then at the end, it is brief.
You can cancel anytime, although we’re sure you’ll love it. Loved this series and I’m hoping to read as much Malorie Blackman as I can now!

Double Cross focuses on gangs and how easy it is to get pulled into all the violence even if all you do is make ‘deliveries’ as Tobey did. There is also an unabridged audiobook of the first book of the series, with Callum’s chapters read by Paul Chequer and Sephy’s by the late Sian Blake. This does give us a bit of background information in terms of Callie Rose’s grudge against Sephy, however, it did not allow me to fully sympathise with Callie Rose as a character until the very end of the book.
I just didn’t care as much. That is a lie, and Sephy later threatens to kill Jude if he ever hurts her child. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it but sometimes authors need to know to stop whilst you’re ahead. Both are powerful gangs that frequently injure and kill each other’s members as well as suspected informants. Callum has to leave school, mslorie Ryan faces the gallows.
When I got this book and read in the bit of info about the book in the dust mlorie and I read ‘Callie Rose and her boyfriend Tobey’ I almost screamed.
Did it ruin the series for me? Noughts and Crosses is a powerful quartet, one I recommend to fans of mature YA. However, he decides to end their relationship and become merely ‘friends’.
