It’s a rambling piecing-together of ideas, and essays, 19th-century science and pseudoscience, and anecdotes, and moral lessons in the guise of conversation.
Tell me what tashe eat and I’ll tell you what you are.
And likewise, it’s a totally idiosyncratic book, filled with moments of genius, and which preserves a bygone way of reaching “knowledge,” whatever that may be. Oct 04, Pages Buy. It’s much more entertaining if you have David Suchet’s portrayal of the character in your head as the author’s voice He also repeatedly tells long stories about his personal physuology some Englishmen at a drinking game, “The Physiology of Taste” is one of those books that most people either love or hate.

Aphorisms of the Professor, VII. This is an incredibly engaging and humorous book that introduced the concept of the gourmand to the world.
First published in France in and continuously in print ever since, this book is still remarkably interesting and relevant today; I especially enjoyed his chapters brillaat diet and weight. As we have said already, all animals that live on farinaceous food grow fat willy-nilly; and man is no exception to the universal law.
For example, he writes: Strongly recommend this book.
He the archetypal French philosophe: Inat the opening of the French Revolution, he was sent as a deputy to the Estates-General that soon became the National Constituent Assembly, where he acquired some limited fame, particularly for a public speech in defense of capital punishment.
This edition, though, is wonderful.
